PATRICK VAN OSCH, an experienced journalist and webmaster, heads the international creative team of The Ko-Go Khronicles. In addition to his many years experience as a web page designer and publisher, Patrick is a former high school teacher in his native Holland, and is currently a Dutch Language teacher in Crete. He was a reporter/feature writer for FINISH, an important Dutch car racing magazine, and is still a member of the magazine's board of directors.

 
           
 
           
 

LOU DURO comes to The Ko-Go Khronicles with over 40 years experience as a journalist. A graduate of New York University's School of Journalism, he was an award-winning reporter/columnist for The New York Journal-American and The Long Island Press in the U.S., and a feature writer for The Athenian, in Greece. A published author, he is the founder and former editor of The Crete Gazette. In addition to his duties as editor, he is the international correspondent for The Queens Times, a leading New York City weekly newspaper.

 

 
           
 
           
 

SOPHIA KLIDI, a native of Rethymno, Crete, who repatriated to her homeland 20 years ago, was raised and educated in the U.S. After university, she worked in several creative fields before becoming manager of Creative Encounters, a full-service media company in New York. Her duties at The Ko-Go Khronicles include proofreading and researching the Greek news media for items of importance to our readers. In addition, during the off-season months she provides beginning and intermediate Greek language lessons to local residents.

 
           
 
           
 

RENIE SPYKERMAN, a native of Holland, writes the popular Through My Eyes column, which provides readers with an insight to life in general, and, particularly, in Crete. Also, she is a major contributor of The Town Buzz column. The working mother of three, Renie gets much of her inspiration for the column from her everyday ordeals. She is a long time resident of the Gouves area, and one of the co-owners and creative geniuses behind the B-Younique accessories and design workshop in Gournes.

 
           
 
           
 

PHILIP J. LEES, who heads up the Ko-Go's Creative Corner pages, is British by birth, but has lived in Greece since 1976 – the last 12 years in Kokkini Hani. His short fiction has appeared in a variety of print and electronic publications, while his story, Lucretia's Nose, won him a place in the 2001 Writers of the Future award. Philip has written two novels (so far unpublished) and is currently working on a third. He is also the organiser of the "Write in Crete" writers' workshops.

 
           
 
           
 

PATRICK VERSCHUEREN, who came to Crete by way of Belgium, is a sports fanatic and a true fan of all the games – a way of life that allows him to write the exciting Ko-Go Sports column with insight and emotion. When he's not sitting at the computer creating sports stories, Patrick organizes Jeep Safaris throughout Crete and is a noted local builder and contractor. Also, he works with his mate Renie Spykerman, and is one of the founders of the B-Younique company in Gournes.

 

 
           
 
           
  WENDY ESTELLE, a native of England, has been a resident of Crete for many years. She is an untiring champion of animal welfare on the island, working with animals in her own right, as well as a volunteer and supporter of organized welfare shelters, such as The Haven in Malia. Her thorough knowledge of all types of pets, and her understanding of the local attitude towards domestic animals, makes Wendy the perfect candidate to author the Ko-Go's informative Pet Corner column.

 
 
           
 
           
  CHRISTINE BOWES, along with her husband, Tony, moved to Crete from England 15 years ago and opened the now legendary Neraida Restaurant in Kokkini Hani. Their diverse menu, a fusion of classic international recipes with their own inspiration and creativeness, has thrilled countless thousands of diners from throughout the world. Now, she has been persuaded to share her recipes and her unique insights into food preparation with the readers of The Ko-Go Khronicles. Christine's Cooking column appears regularly, and is a favourite of serious chefs, as well as part-time gourmet aficionados.

 
 
           
 
           
 
MARIA DASKALAKI, born and raised in Iraklion, writes in both Greek and English. She is a true observer of the people and places that give character to her native city. Her in-depth articles are also featured regularly in Iraklion's daily newspaper, Patris. When people of the Gouves Township say they are "going to the city," for shopping, entertainment or just a day out, they, of course, are referring to Iraklion. Now, Maria will share her insightful observations of our neighbouring "big city" with our readers.
 
 
           
 
           
 
ERIK VANDER VLIST is a talented graphics professional who is responsible for the exciting format and layout of the print edition of The Ko-Go Khronicles. He studied graphic design for four years in his native Holland, and has created numerous print publications, as well as many web sights.
