The 5th annual Gouves Township
Blood Drive will be held Friday, November 9, from 09.00 to 13.00 at the
Gouves Town Hall, on the old American base in Gournes.
The blood program is sponsored by Help
at Home, in co-operation with the parish priests, the cultural
associations, the schools, as well as the people of the township.
Blood donation is a
simple and painless procedure which lasts only ten minutes, as explained by
a volunteer of the drive. The blood taken is only 1/10 or less of the total
blood concentration in the body, and quickly replenishes itself.
The procedure is
entirely safe as all equipment is sterilized and all materials are
disposable. All healthy individuals between the ages of 18-62 may donate
blood every three to four months.
Medical personnel at
the scene will take from the donor a brief medical history, and will also
check the donor’s blood pressure and conduct a general blood works. |

Donors should have a
relaxing night before donating blood and abstain from excessive alcohol
consumption.
All participants
receive a blood donor’s card.
