PET OF THE MONTH

  November’s Pet of the Month is Dafni, a young donkey currently residing at The Haven in Malia, but is actually the foster pet of Mark, Diane and Pascal Hermans, of the Netherlands. Dafni was originally destined to be a “worker,” but her owner’s business failed, and, after a close brush with death, she miraculously made it to the animal shelter with deeply infected head-collar wounds full of maggots.  Once recovered, Dafni was adopted as a pet by the Hermans family, which comes to Crete every two or three months to visit the lovely “lady” and take her for long walks through the countryside.
