WE WANT TEACHERS!

  Students at the Gournes campus of the Iraklion School of Arts joined fellow students around Iraklion in staging a three-day protest drawing attention to the school’s lack of professional teachers and adequate classrooms. Anna Giannopoulou, 17, (first row, 3rd from right) of Kokkini Hani, said the music students don’t even have a musician for an instructor. And, Athina Drakonaki, 16, (back row, right) of Hersonissos, said students are only getting six hours of lessons a day, instead of the normal 8 or 9, due to the teacher shortage, and many kids are worried about passing the exams to go on to university at the end of this current school year.
