Seventy people from
throughout the Gouves Township turned up for the annual blood drive
sponsored by the township and the Help at Home Organization. Here, Doctor
Emily Stavroulaki of University Hospital
watches over the operation as three donors undergo the painless 15-minute
procedure. They are (left to right) George Lapavitsas, Immigration Office of
the Gouves Township, who is participating in his third blood donation; Petra
Feldmann of Pano Gouves, donating for the first time, and Paraskevi Lambaki,
a teacher at the Kokkini Grammar School, who is a four-time veteran. Of the
70 prospective donors, 35 were, after testing, selected, while the others
were unable to give blood for various reasons. The Help at Home team would
like to extend a big thank you to all the volunteers who came in to
support this drive.
