MUSIC BEAT

The Beatles Go Digital: According to a statement from Paul McCartney, the Beatles are getting ready to pass over to the digital internet zone with the group’s entire catalogue being available on line. McCartney stated that everything is ready and that sometime in 2008 their songs will be available to download. Until then, though, the group’s fans can enjoy the triple DVD-set titled The McCartney Years. The DVD centers around videos from concerts and video-clips from McCartney’s solo career, and includes the new album Memory Almost Full.

The Rolling Stones Guitarist Reveals About His Life: Although his autobiography has just been released, the Rolling Stones guitarist Ron Wood revealed he’s preparing a second book and is involved in talks about a movie based on the book which bears the title Ronnie: The Autobiography. Wood commented on how interesting the movie would be given the fact that it describes analytically all his rock and roll experiences, sharing an apartment with Jimi Hendrix or playing with the Jeff Beck Group, the Faces and the Stones. The book also contains stories about his relationship with Patti Harrison, in-between her marriage to George Harrison and Eric Clapton, the ex-first lady of Canada Margaret Trudeau, and his personal demons with drugs, alcohol and finances. Of course, musical analysis is also included, though no one expects that to be a big part of the book.

CD

Hey Eugene: A cinematic and romantic CD, with ambiance, it's ideal for spring walks and dinners next to the river Seine. Hey Eugene is the last album of Pink Martini who mixes exotic Cuban motifs with honey-dripped jazz and psychedelic melodies. All those familiar with ethnic particulars will find their melodies in this CD. – from belly dancing to gypsy trumpets, Russian Charleston, retro bossa-nova and crystal clear female vocals that recall the Hollywood movies of the 60s. The Greek audience already adores this release.

Magic: Bruce Springsteen returns to disc-making with this well received album. It has been said that this disc is his most nostalgic to-date. His compositions are dusty, with lyrics critical of many folds of contemporary reality and the suspense which overwhelms anyone brave enough to face it. His acoustic guitar interprets gloomy themes and searches for the magic he tells us we have lost.
