Ambassador Gianna Angelopoulos-Daskalaki has been named
one of the recipients of the
Archbishop Iakovos Leadership 100 Award for Excellence,
it was recently announced.
The
Award for Excellence recognizes outstanding Greek Orthodox and Greek
American leaders who have excelled in their vocation and who are committed
to the advancement of Orthodoxy and Hellenism in their professions and in
their lives.
Mrs. Angelopoulos-Daskalaki, who was born in
Iraklion, will receive the award at ceremonies highlighting the
Leadership 100 17th Annual Conference in
California on
February 16, 2008.
She is best
known for being the president of the bidding and organizing committee for
the 2004 Athens Olympics, and was named one of the world’s 50 most powerful
women by Forbes magazine.
