CINEMA
Top eight films of 2007:
It’s that time of year when we look back at what were the top movies of
the previous year and see if we agree with the experts, or even if we’ve
actually seen any of them. Here is the list we’ve come up with:
|
|
1) Ratatouille:
This
animated comedy from Walt
Disney was directed by
Bob Peterson
starred
Ian Holm,
Lou Romano and
Brian Dennehy.
It’s about
a rat named Remy who dreams of becoming a great French chef despite his
family's wishes and the obvious problem of being a rat in a decidedly
rodent-phobic profession.

2) No
Country for Old Men:
Directed
by Joel Coen, this adventure-war drama features Tommy Lee Jones, Josh Brolin
and Woody Harrelson. The story
begins when Llewelyn Moss (BROLIN) finds a pickup truck surrounded by a
sentry of dead men. A load of heroin and two million dollars in cash are
still in the back. When Moss takes the money, he sets off a chain reaction
of catastrophic violence that not even the law - in the person of ageing,
disillusioned Sheriff Bell (JONES) - can contain. As Moss tries to evade his
pursuers - in particular a mysterious mastermind who flips coins for human
lives (BARDEM) - the film simultaneously strips down the American crime
drama and broadens its concerns to encompass themes as ancient as the Bible
and as bloodily contemporary as this morning’s
headlines.
