Internationally acclaimed Greek-born filmmaker, Constantinos Gavras, better
known simply as Costa-Gavras, has announced he has begun working on his
first-ever Greek production, which will be filmed on locations in Crete, the Alps and Paris.

The film, Eden is West, which is scheduled for about 11 weeks of shooting,
concerns a political undertaking similar to those
that Gavras is best known for. Its protagonist is Ilias, an immigrant – the
name itself does not indicate his nationality – who decides to travel to France and goes through an odyssey
in search of a better future.
The Greek-French director, who was born
in a small village in
Arcadia,
is best known for films with overt political themes, most famously the dark,
fast-paced thriller, Z (1969). Most of his movies were made in French
and released with English subtitles, but starting with Missing
(1982), several were made in English.
