Dear Editor:
Another great update on the status of old Air Force Base. I see Gary
McPherson was there from 1963-1970 and good to know others stationed there
have an interest in the outcome. I was stationed there from August, 1965, to
February, 1966, but do not think I ever met
Gary. I would be very interested to know what he did
there so hopefully he will read this note and send one back to me at
wrpdoor@verizon.net. Like Gary, I too fell in
love with Crete, and the wonderful people
who live there. In fact, it was a very positive life-altering experience.
And I agree with Gary: the people of
Crete should be given the honour and
responsibility to assume the stewardship of the land where the former AF
base resided. It's their island . . . their heritage that deserves to be
preserved. Keep up the good fight, Lou! Thanks so very much for your
efforts!

Dear Walter:
Thanks for your words of support, which, we know, all of
the people involved in this enormous effort appreciate.

Dear
Editor:
I come from Cologne,
Germany.
I am going to travel to the Imperial Belvedere Hotel in June and July, 2008.
Unfortunately, I have to work through these holidays, and found out that the
internet access costs 7€ per hour at the hotel. The money is one side, but
the other side seems to be a very low bandwidth. Anyway, I searched the net
and found the online edition of The
Khronicles. A very interesting site, by the way. An article tells about
the free public internet access brought by (Hersonissos) Mayor Spiros
Danelis. Do you know if there is free broadband access for tourists, also?
Thanks for help.
Nils Kuegler
Dear Nils:
We checked with our webmaster, and internet guru, John
McLaren, who also runs Aquaworld in Hersonissos, and he informs us that
almost next door to his aquarium is the Hersonissos Community Centre where
there is free wireless broadband available throughout the
summer for everyone. There is also another “hot spot” near the port. For
more details, contact the
Hersonissos
Township through its
website: www.hersonisos.com.

Dear Editor:
Seven years ago, our neighbours and
friends, Ronny Peskens, and his wife, Lea, moved to Kokkini Hani. We once
visited them there, but unfortunately lost the contact and their address and
phone number. While searching the Internet, we found his name in your
newspaper, in the Edition No.8 – December, 2006, in the column "Question of
the month". We would like to contact them or let them know that we are
looking after them. Would you be so kind to pass our address to them?
Bart and
Annuska Van der Aa - Van Hoovels
Keulestraat, Belgium
Dear Bart and Annuska:
We managed to track down Ronny and Lea Peskens for you,
and have forwarded your e-mail to them. Hope you have a happy reunion.

Dear Editor:
As a resident of Kokkini Hani I was
amazed by the lack of Christmas lighting for our township, and for our
children. With your newspaper doing its part by putting up a Christmas tree
and arranging a Father Christmas to give out presents to the children,
surely next year the Demos can do its part and make Christmas a brighter one
for our families . . . or should the budget money go to make yet another
road somewhere?
Susan Coates
Dear Susan:
We’ve received several phone calls and letters concerning
the lack of Christmas decorations by the township. The powers that be
informed us we will be happily surprised next holiday season.
