The Stones Have New
Album:
The Rolling
Stones penned a new one-album deal with Universal and the company will
release the new album, which is the
soundtrack for Shine A Light,
in March. The Martin Scorsese movie – same title – was filmed during the
Rolling Stones’ concert performance at
New York’s Beacon Theatre in 2006 and it is expected
to hit the movie theatres in April. The concert, movie and soundtrack
feature special guests, including Buddy Guy and Jack White (White Stripes).
According to Universal’s spokesman “the Rolling Stones define rock ‘n’ roll.
They are the absolute music legends.” What’s your opinion?

EMI Changes Strategy:
The British
music company, EMI Group Ltd., plans to cut 2.000 jobs as the company
continues to be in a crisis due to, among other things, plummeting CD sales
and internet piracy. The company, which, for so many years has been the
music home of the Beatles, Coldplay and about 4.500 other individuals, plans
to merge its marketing, sales and distribution units into one department
within the next six months. This new strategy disturbs many music groups
like The Verve, who are now hesitant to release their new album through EMI.

CD
Memory Almost Full – Paul McCartney:
Now
in the seventh decade of his life, just the fact that he still releases
discs is amazing. The aged Beatle continues to move around a pop axis and be
occupied with such personal matters like his relationship with his ex-wife
or the realization of his own mortality. Something which honors him, since
any attempt on his part to grasp the pulse of the times would probably fail.
Luckily, the result in this case is sincerity which touches you even if you
don’t share his years. Finally,
the style of Memory Almost Full
shows that the need behind the making of this disc is for the artist to
express his issues and not to release one more hit. And, because he is one
of the few remaining true rock legends, it is worth to see what he has filed
in his memory.

The Joshua Tree Deluxe Edition – U2:
The U2 have
decided to give us a unique New Year’s gift which will be appreciated by
both fans and music lovers. The album of the well known group, released in a
special deluxe edition, includes two CDs and manages to remind us of the
group’s best moments. Legendary pieces like
Where The Streets Have No Name, I
Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For, With or Without You, Sweetest
Thing and other lesser known compositions remind us that, in spite of
the group’s mediocre recent disc production, the U2 have already offered
songs which will remain for ever.
