Fans of John Grisham will be delighted as he is back in the courtroom again – his first legal thriller in three years.


Grisham sets his story in small-town Mississippi where he once practiced criminal law, and it involves the husband and wife legal team of Wes and Mary Grace Payton who represent a widow suing a large chemical company owned by a Wall Street billionaire. The company had been illegally dumping chemical waste for years, and the rate of cancer in the area is fifteen times the national average. The story is one of big money tending to control politics, and the corruption which goes with it. The Appeal is an entertaining page-turner with a twist at the end, which gives the reader a feeling of hope and justice.
