Representatives from the Malia Township, together with Mayor Konstantino Lagouthaki, attended the all important tourist exhibit in Berlin.

The mayor’s group, together with representatives from the local association of apartments and hotels, participated in the exhibit with prospectuses and advertising material to entice the large tour operators and attract elusive markets.

Another goal of the trip was to improve the image of the township in the tourist market, to lengthen the tourist season and to reinforce the competitiveness of the destination.

“This effort does not stop here,” the mayor said. “It will be continued by participating in other European tourist exhibits, by Malia being a host to top management from mega tourist organizations and reporters from top foreign tourist publications, as well as the creation of a webpage and advertising on the net.”

Additionally, this effort will be reinforced with local events for tourism like the Cretan cuisine, which showcases the gastronomy of Crete, the promotion of environmental walks, which show the advantages of the area, and the celebration of the International Tourism Day, which shows the true face of the township.
