THE KHRONICLES CELEBRATES
ITS SECOND ANNIVERSARY

When The Khronicles, then known as The Ko-Go Khronicles, first hit the streets and the internet in May, 2006, the newspaper was a four-page black and white English-language publication with a circulation of 300, directed primarily to the local expatriate communities of Kokkini Hani and Gouves (thus the “Ko-Go” designation in its name).

Now, with the publication of this month’s issue, The Khronicles celebrates its 2nd anniversary, announcing a print readership surpassing 5.000 for the 36-page newspaper, now published in colour and in both English and Greek, and circulated in Malia and Hersonissos, as well as Gouves.

Equally impressive, its on-line edition is now up to almost 10.000 “pageloads” per month.

The format of the newspaper, presenting local hard news stories together with informative feature articles and columns, has proven popular with the general public, as well as local officials.

Congratulations on the newspaper’s second milestone have come in from many areas.

Gouves Mayor Yiorgos Nikolakakis, in offering best wishes, said the newspaper does “a really good job presenting solid stories. I like the newspaper,” he added with a smile, “even when the stories are not complimentary to me.”

A Kokkini Hani social worker, Mrs. Eleni Priniotaki, said: I have followed your paper’s serious effort in the news on a local level. It was something sorely needed in our area. Speaking with others in our demos, I realize more and more how many people here follow you with interest.”

“As president of the Gournes Association Development and Environment I would like to thank the Khronicles and its editors for their particular response and sensitivities they show for disputed issues troubling our association and the local communities in general,” said Mrs. Vasiliki Alexaki-Hronaki.  “We wish them to always be on the front line . . . as the public’s acceptance is an established fact.”
