The 6th annual
Gouves Township Blood Drive
will be held on Friday, June 6, from 09.00 to 13.00 at the Town Hall, on the
old American base in Gournes.
The blood drive is sponsored by the
Help at Home program, in
co-operation with the parish priests, the cultural associations, the schools
and other institutions, as well as local residents.
“Blood donation is a simple and
painless procedure which lasts only te n minutes”, explained the personnel
from Help at Home. “The blood
taken does not exceed the 1/10 of the total blood concentration in the body,
and quickly replenishes itself.”

The procedure is entirely safe as all equipment is
sterilized and all materials are disposable.

All healthy individuals between the ages of 18 –
62 may donate blood every three to four months.

Before the procedure, medical personnel at the
scene will take from the donor a brief medical history, will check the
blood pressure and conduct a general blood works.

Donors should have a relaxing night before
donating blood and abstain from excessive alcohol consumption.

All participants receive a blood donor’s card.
