OVERHEARD AT THE TOWN COUNCIL

Mihalis Plevrakis demanded the Kokkini Hani on-off ramps of the national Highway be completed with demos money.

The Mayor countered with: “the actual traffic connection to the highway must be done by the Police hierarchy and proper environmental study must be done – we cannot be responsible for any accidents.”

Remembering the traffic accident leading to the death of Andrianna Lasthiotaki on the Kokkini Hani old national road in early June, an official traffic circulatory study was proposed by the mayor and was unanimously approved. Hot spots like the Gouves crossroads, the Tsalos flower shop crossroads, the Nea Kyvelia crossroads and the Anopolis turn in Kokkini Hani will be recommended for traffic signals.

Manolis Pervolarakis, president of Anopolis town council, said cars should not be parked along roads like the main Kokkini Hani road or the road towards Anopoli; tickets should be issued and fines should be collected.

Manolis Plevrakis suggested that delivery trucks parked and double parked, unloading at all hours of the day, especially during peak traffic times, on the old national road in Kokkini Hani, should be limited to certain morning hours.
