HERSONISSOS NEWS

TWO PER CENT FOR THE TOWNSHIP

The executive councils of professional associations in Hersonissos, the Iraklion Commercial Association, the Federation of Commercial Associations in Crete and the Association for Car and Motorcycle Rentals, met at the Hersonissos town hall in reference to the hot question of the obligatory two percent payment to the township.

Mayor Spyros Danellis stressed the municipal government is tied to the existing legislative frame.

“We agreed, in the next few days, to undertake a common initiative of the Network of Tourist Municipalities with the Federation of Commercial Associations in Crete, the Iraklion Chamber of Commerce and the Commercial Association of Hersonissos in trying to rationalize the legal framework so that citizens are not unjustly treated,” he said. “Also the local government must not be deprived of its only economic tool which enables us to materialize our increased obligations to our citizens.”

VOLUNTEERS IN FIREFIGHTING AND PREVENTION OF FIRES

In the framework of activating teams of volunteer citizens, the Hersonissos Demos organized the delivery of individual supplies and auxiliary equipment to the volunteers for the prevention and repression of fire.

Mayor Spyros Danellis spoke of the importance of volunteering and thanked all attending for their interest and civic minded attitude.

Speaker at the event was Mr. Emmanouil Koukakis, chief of the Hersonissos Fire Station who spoke on the subject of citizen volunteering action being the ally of firemen in preventing fires.

PRE-HOSPITAL CARE

The first seminar of pre-hospital care for intervention on the heavily wounded was recently held at the Hersonissos Cultural center.

The program, conducted by the Pre-hospital Care Company, with the approval of the National Centre ATLS-PHTLS, provides theoretical and practical knowledge and practice in the necessary dexterities so they can be able to support the vital signs of a wounded person until he reaches the hospital.

The seminar was conducted under the aegis of: Hersonissos Municipality, the Iraklion Municipality, the National Centre ATLS-PHTLS and NAEMT, and was certified by Professor I. Androulaki, National Coordinator ATLS-PHTLS.
