Elvis Presley Returns:

Not himself naturally, but his music. Celebrating the forty years from the first moment “the King of Rock n Roll” stepped on stage, Sony BMG decided to circulate a box-set containing moments from his preparation as well as from his appearance in the legendary Comeback Special of 1968. In a career that is characterized by the invention and re-invention of his image, the Comeback Special show continues to constitute the leading moment of his career. It was the period when he had just returned from the movie studios which had kept him away from the live arena, although he sounded and looked amazing. The box-set will contain a total of four CDs, that will contain over 103 songs from the King, including That’s Alright, Heartbreak Hotel, One Night, Love Me, Are You Lonesome Tonight?. . . and many others.

Myspace Organises Secret Concerts:

The Gnarls Barkley, the Battles and up and coming Janelle Monae were some of the names that appeared at the Irving  Plaza in New York in June at the 150th Secret Show of Myspace. Admission to the concert was free any users of the website that had registered as friends in the profile Secret Show of Myspace. Despite the intolerable heat, the vocalist of Gnarls Barkley, Cee-Lo, went up on stage wearing a tuxedo and sang the successes of his band, like the piece, Run, but also adaptations like Gone Daddy Gone by the Violent Femmes. Naturally, Crazy, Smiley Faces, Whatever and others were also present. Working in collaboration with the recording companies and the artists, Myspace began the Secret Shows in January 2006 presenting artists like Rilo Kiley, Moby, Maroon 5, The Killers, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Lily Allen, Ice Cube, James Blunt and a lot of others. The initial idea was that of Isac Walter, who maintains that the dynamics of Myspace are so big that it is in a position to organize a concert within just 48 hours and make it successful.

Rockferry:

If you have not heard the piece Mercy from the disk, you live on another planet or the music of Duffy does not concern you. The new up and coming talent of Great Britain belongs in the recent wave of new soul singers, who found fertile grounds to shoot up from after the popularity of Amy Winehouse.  Duffy has been characterized by many as Dusty Springfield’s clone, but that should not discourage fans of Dusty from buying her debut album. The climb of Rockferry in the European charts shows that the contemporary music public can embrace the new singer. Her voice is charismatic, her presence enchanting and her age promises a lot more for the future.

Youth Novel:

Scandinavia continues dynamically . . . from the northerners, fresh music blood continues to flow, like the Swedish singer Lykke Li proves, with her debut album. Her almost childish phonetics touch upon chords that until recently only the Cocorosie could touch, and admittedly the resemblances do not stop there. Her sound, even if it is indietronica, is possessed by the experimentation of the known sisters and the all fragile texture for which we loved them. Beyond the trippy Dance, Dance, Dance, another piece from the disk that will win you surely is I’ m Good, I’ m Gone in which we gaze on Li as a more inspired Duffy.
