OPEN HOUSE AT DUTCH SCHOOL

The Dutch Association of Hersonissos will hold an open house for its Dutch School in Piskopiano on Wednesday, August 27, from 17.30 to 20.00, it was announced by Suzanne Schils, association chairman.

“Everybody interested can come and have a look at the school, and meet the new teacher, Joost Hamel, as well as some of the board members,” Mrs. Schils said. “Information about school enrollment and club membership will be available, and donations will be accepted.”

The school, funded by a subsidy from the Dutch Government, minimal tuition fees and personal donations, is open to children from Kokkini Hani to Sissi between the ages of four to 16, who have at least one parent from Holland or Belgium.

According to Mrs. Schils, the school is fully certified and graduates would be able to attend any university in Holland, as far as language is concerned.

“In addition to the language, the school helps students maintain an interest in their Dutch culture and heritage,” she said.

Further information is available by call Mrs. Schils at 6944-753479.
