ALIKARNASSOS NEWS

 ALIKARNASSOS CONSERVATOIRE
OPEN FOR NEW SCHOOL SESSION

The Township’s Conservatoire, housed in modern installations at 173 Artemisias Street, is now open for the 2008-09 school session, it was announced by Mayor Vangelis Sisamakis.

The Conservatoire is designed to provide quality services to students of all Educational Institutions: Preschool, Primary and Secondary, and is staffed by a top team well respected in the music world.

The following departments operate in the school: Classic, liberal arts, popular music, contemporary music, music appreciation and Greek traditional music.

On opening day, Mayor Sisamakis toured the Conservatoire, met professors and students and wished them all success in this new school year.

DRIVERS’ EDUCATION
NOW AT THE PARK

New students for 2008-09, plus anyone who wishes to be informed about drivers’ education, can do so at the park, which is located on the grounds of the former Abattoir, near the seafront.

According to its plan, the park’s new addition reinforces the correct road behaviour for the young and contributes in the biggest possible way to the prevention of road accidents.

The park is 7951,74 sq.m and, apart from its educational role, functions as an entertainment and recreation area for children of pre-school and school age.

“Moreover,” commented the Vice-Mayor of Technical Services Mr. Manolis Milakis, “the park is an environment to teach road safety and simulates the traffic of vehicles, bicycles and pedestrians in a network of roads, complete with all the proper signage.”

Further information is available by calling 2810-390145.

 MUNICIPALITY NEWSPAPER
IS NOW AVAILABLE

The latest edition of Nea Alikarnassos, the township’s official publication with the editorial policy of “keeping the public informed on the township’s actions and policies,” is now available at town hall and other locations.

The newspaper, published regularly since 2006, is designed to provide an information source to the people of the township, according to Mayor Vangelis Sisamakis.

“I receive the public daily in my office in town hall and try to be near to the people’s problems and provide a solution as the local government, if it’s at all possible,” the mayor said. “However, the limited time of this personal communication and the need to continue, led to the publication of this informative newspaper.

“The democratic participation of all residents in the planning and shaping of the township’s works remains a priority with us.”

TECHNICALLY SPEAKING,
THERE’S A NEW HOT-LINE

If you live in Nea Alikarnassos and you have a technical problem, help may only be a dial tone away.

Mr. Manolis Milakis, vice-mayor of technical services, has announced the creation of a hot line for communication-collaboration with township citizens to report all the problems they may happen to encounter.

“People will have the possibility to communicate with 2810-247583 on a 24-hour basis or send e-mail at synergasia@nea-alikarnassos.gr and report problems concerning traffic, road conditions (holes on the streets), lighting, sanitation, green works and all other problems that concern township services,” Mr. Milakis said. “Only with cooperation can we face the problems in our township. We want a problem free people-town, so that we can all enjoy a better quality life.”
