Although 2008 will go down as a “tough” year for Greek tourism, with Crete
being one of those hard hit, official reports noted that it would have been
disastrous if it weren’t for a spike in visitors from Russia and the Balkan
states – and Switzerland.
According to the latest information, there was a 40 percent growth of
Russian tourists in the region, 35 percent of Swiss tourists and 15 percent
of tourists from the Balkan states of Bulgaria, Romania, FYROM and Serbia. |
