BELGRADE BOOK FESTIVAL
 TO HONOUR GREECE IN 2009

 

The Belgrade book festival, one of the biggest cultural events in Serbia, will honour Greece as the theme country in its 54th book festival next October.

At this year's event, visited by 147,000 people, the theme country was Japan. During its final ceremonies, the Japanese ambassador presented the “open book” to the Greek Ambassador, Christos Panagopoulos, who said that “this distinction will contribute to the development of cultural relations of the two countries that are lagging behind compared to political and economic relations.”
