GOUVES TOWN HALL SHOWS
CRETAN CERAMIC ART

An exciting exhibit entitled "The Ceramics of Crete and Cyprus Travels" is currently open at the Gouves Town Hall in Gournes.

On display are nearly 50 pieces created by noted artists from Crete and Cyprus. The exhibit has been jointly organized by two associations: Keramon (Friends of Cretan Ceramics) and Orfeus, a non governmental group.

The subject matter of the art, created in works of vases, sculptures, plates and compositions with ceramic mosaics, is the timeless value of the olive tree and its symbolism of peace.

The exhibit is open free to the public Monday through Friday until January 10.

Dimitris Lymperidis, chairman of the Keramon Association and one of the exhibiting artists, told The Khronicles:  “for now the exhibit is touring Crete, but plans are currently underway for showings abroad so that all people can experience the wonderful techniques of Cretan and Cypriot ceramic art.”
