Much to the delight of athletes and fans alike, the newly renovated municipal football stadium in Hersonissos is now officially open.

Participating in the opening ceremonies were Father Emmanuil Tzevambinas who blessed the grounds, and Mayor Spyros Danellis, who thanked everyone for their attendance.

"This stadium will help our children to excel in sports and keep them away from the dangers of drugs and problems with the police," the mayor said.

Costa Papathakis, president of the Hersonissos Football Club, Olympiakos,  told the crowd that last season the team was promoted to the third division, and this year they hope to move up to the second division.  

Following the ceremonies, a friendly match was played between the Hersonissos and Analipsi teams.
