NEA ALIKARNASSOS NEWS

IT'S FUN AND GAMES
FOR ALIKARNASSOS KIDS

Children at the Alikarnassos Youth Centre take part in a holiday celebration, which included children’s theatre, games by an animator, and also a select buffet and many gifts.

"It’s important for the local government to be near its people especially during the holidays, rewarding the children’s efforts of the year past," commented Mayor Vangelis Sisamakis. "We presented the party free of charge so that once more we can support the economically challenged class of our people."

Mr. Sisamakis said the municipality will continue its effort in 2009 for an "Alikarnassos worthy of its people and we wish you from our heart a happy 2009."

ALIKARNASSOS MOBILE UNIT
FOR MECHANICAL REPAIRS

In modernising its fleet of official vehicles, the Alikarnassos municipality has purchased an all-enclosed, one-ton truck for the electromechanical needs of its Technical Service. The vehicle has the following equipment so that it can also serve as a mobile repair shop: shelves with regulated dividers, many levels with small boxes, drawers and locked spaces for keeping parts, varying sizes of tool cases and a collapsible bench with a vice.  Moreover, it includes non-slip floors and a ladder.

Simultaneously, a specific area has been outfitted where all demos vehicles are being kept so that it can also function as a repair shop.

"Outfitting the municipality's vehicles is the policy at hand," commented the Vice Mayor of Technical Services, Mr. Antonis Perisinakis.  "We want our services to have the latest in technology equipment so we can respond in a timely fashion to the demands of our citizens."

NEW MUNICIPAL VEHICLES
ROLL INTO ALIKARNASSOS

As part of the Alikarnassos municipality's policy of striving to improve the
lives of its citizens, the government's Technical Service
purchased a number of new vehicles through the Thiseas funding programme

Included is a vehicle equipped with a high pressure water
system to properly wash bins from 120 litres to 1100 litres capacity.

The same vehicle also washes garbage bins right on the sidewalk and those in
garbage trucks; plus it washes statues, road dividers etc., as well as
wets down streets, waters municipal green areas, and can even
extinguish fires in an emergency.
The truck has two water tanks, for potable and non-potable water.

The municipality has also purchased a garbage collecting truck with
many extra features, and a contemporary bus for
comfortably transporting township employees.

"Because of the accelerated development of the Alikarnassos municipality,
its sanitation needs have increased, and so the Demos is constantly redesigning
its policies and re-outfitting its technical services with contemporary equipment,"
stated Mayor Vangelis Sisamakis.
