A new organization to aid animals, called Cretan Animal Protection (CAP), is now in its formation stage, according to Josette Thimmesch, president of the group.

In addition to the president, Robby Stark is Treasurer and Elly Katsberger is Secretary.

"The chief goal of CAP is to create an animal welfare shelter in the Gouves Township," Mrs. Thimmesch said. "And, once we are fully organized, the demos has said they will provide us with the land for the shelter."

In preparation for when they get the land,  the group has announced that it is looking for sponsors and volunteers to help in any way with the day to day management of such a project.

"Also, money is needed and once we're fully recognized as a legitimate charity, we will be putting collection boxes in any shops, hotels or restaurants who want to support CAP," Mrs. Thimmesch said. "So anyone willing to have such a box in their establishment should contact anyone on the committee."

Meanwhile, bazaars are being arranged on the third Sunday of every month and the next one will be on February 15 at Wuiby's Grill House in Kokkini Hani from 11.00 to 16.00.

Merchandise for the bazaars is needed and anyone wishing to donate goods can call 2810-762686 or 6979-279088 and arrangements will be made for collection.
