Approximately 200 people turned out for a music night at the exhibition centre in Gournes in order to raise funds to purchase medical supplies for the victims of the recent war in Gaza.

In addition to the music by four different bands, many local officials and community leaders offered remarks.

Sami Moundavaris of Kato Gouves, a member of the local Palestinian community, said: "With your presence here today you express the support and the solidarity for our people. The help that you offer today to the Palestinian population strengthens their hope and makes them feel that they are not alone and that there are free people in this world who stand by them and support their fight for freedom and peace."

Gouves Mayor Yiorgos Nikolakakis remarked: "We add our voice to say that these killings must stop. When these atrocities occur anywhere in the world, the real victims are the helpless and non-fighting people."
