HERSONISSOS NEWS

HERSONISSOS VOLUNTEERS
GET HEALTH CERTIFICATES

"Completion of Training" certificates were given to the volunteers from the Municipal Health Team and the Hersonissos Team “I Protect” who successfully completed the seminar on “basic life support and the use of an automated external defibrillator."

The seminar was the result of a cooperation of the Hersonissos Municipality with the company "Prehospital Care."

A lecture followed from Dr. Dimitrio Vourvahaki, anaesthesiologist, on the subject of citizen volunteer programmes.

"The volunteer programmes have drawn a lot of interest, as their aim is not only to educate on health matters, but also to promote social solidarity and unity among the local residents," a spokesperson from the Hersonissos Township said. "Now, due to a positive response of this seminar, another workshop on basic life support is being planned for the Hersonissos Municipal workers."

    SUBSIDISED SEMINARS
IN HERSONISSOS

Modern techniques in sales, communication and promotion of products and services will be discussed at seminars currently being organised by the Hersonissos Commercial Association.

The subsidised seminars are being offered exclusively to the workers in Hersonissos businesses, and, initially, the businesses must declare the precise number of their employees wishing to enter the programme and their details.

Those entering the programme will be subsidised with the sum of 5.00 Euros an hour. Information and application may be obtained from the association’s president, Vangeli Perali.

YOUNG HERSONISSOS PLAYER
WINS CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP

Seven-year-old Iasonas Nikas, from the Chess Academy of Hersonissos,
took the winning cup in his category in chess, at the recently-held
Gazi - Iraklion School Chess Competition.

More than 50 students from kindergarten through to university level from Gazi,
Iraklion
and Hersonissos competed in the tournament, which was
held in Gazi with the Swiss system of five rounds of competition.

The Hersonissos Chess Academy, the only association in Greece whose chess players
are only small children, were up against the older and more
experienced players from other regions.

"I promise there will be many other successful wins in my chess-playing future,
little Iasonas announced, as he proudly accepted the cup,
which he was awarded after accomplishing three wins in seven games.
