NEA ALIKARNASSOS NEWS

FREE PROMO FOR BUSINESSES

The Nea Alikarnassos Municipality, in its aim to support business dexterity in the local economy, and through the Business Programme “Society of Information,” invites certain businesses operating throughout the township who wish to be promoted free through the new internet portal to participate in its new programme.

Businesses must be related to: hotels, rooms for rent; Cretan gastronomy (restaurants, tavernas); merchandising shops; local products and recreation.

Those interested must call 2810-247551 or visit the Programming, Developing and Social Policy office in town hall from 9 to 11 a.m. daily.

The display on the portal will include the name of the business, plus address, telephone, e-mail and shortcut to the business’ web page.

SOCIAL SERVICES

The Nea Alikarnassos Municipality, in its effort to create an Education and Cultural Centre, adopted the programme: “MILE – immigration management and social unification on a local level.”

It is a fast track network operating in regions for economic change to incorporate ethnic minorities and sensitive groups to the local labour market.

In the Nea Alikarnassos there are 551 registered immigrants.

The first two phases of the study that were presented, and concern the Roma and other immigrants, include local intervention, targeting the business development of the immigrants, and local intervention aiming to incorporate immigrants into the local labour market.

The most important step has been made by including the Education and Cultural Centre in planning the current Business Programme of the Demos (2008-2010).

Some of the network members so far are:  Venice - at the head of the programme; Rotterdam; Comotini; Turin; New Alikarnassos; Seville.
