GREEK LANGUAGE, HISTORY, CULTURE:
FREE CLASSES FOR IMMIGRANTS

The "Learn through Living" Department of the Education Ministry has organised a program for lessons in Greek language, history and culture to be given free to all interested immigrants.

The program, presented by the Adult Education Institute, in cooperation with the Gouves Township, will begin in March, and is co-financed by the European Union and the Greek State. It is free to all EU citizens and nationals from third world countries who reside legally in Greece and are at least 16 years old.

"The program includes learning the Greek language and elements of Greek history and culture so that immigrants can acquire the linguistic dexterities and social and cross cultural faculties required for an active social integration," said a Gouves Township spokesperson. "And, most importantly, for an upward mobility in the work place.

For nationals of third world countries, the certificate for completing the A2 level of this course is necessary in order to receive a long term residency permit.

The program covers two levels, A1 and A2, covering 125 and 175 hours, respectively.

Classes will be held within the first 15 days every month from September through April.

For further information and or registration please call Mrs. Irini Sopasi at 2810244500 every Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon from 16:00 to 19:00 or Mrs. Myrto Voulgaraki at the Gouves Demos at 2810763240.
