Spyridon Café and Sweetshop, in the face of the intensifying ecological crisis and with respect and sensitivity for the environment, began the New Year by switching to bio-degradable bags and boxes.

Mr Spyros Hatzakis, owner of the popular sweetshop, stressed that "simple actions can contribute to improving our daily lives."

He said: "I consider it an individual and social responsibility to help in any way for the protection and re-establishment of natural ecosystems. For this reason, we will continue to take such initiatives."

The switch to the bio-degradable material is quite substantial, since, according to its records, Spyridon, located on Kokkini Hani's main street, goes through from 2,000 to 3,000 bags and boxes per month.

In other action relating to current financial situation, Mr. Hatzakis announced that Spyridon will maintain a booth at the popular Wedding and Christening Exhibition to be held March 21 to 25 at the Gournes Exhibition Centre on the old base.

"We will use this showcase to introduce some new original ideas and concepts in relation to today's economy," he said, while inviting the public to visit him and his staff at booth 21 at the show.
