ORGANIC FARMERS MARKET
COMES TO GOUVES TOWN

Question: What does horta from Rethymnon, oranges from Fodele, vegetables from Ierapetra, tomatoes from Gournes, greens from Adelianos Kampos, wine from Dafnes, and spices and honey from Archanes all have in common?

Answer: They're all organic . . . and now they're all in Gouves!

The Association of the Organic Farmers of Crete has organized a special market every Tuesday from 11 am to 4 pm on the grounds of the old base, across from the Gouves Town Hall.

"We have everything for cooking great tasting and healthy vegetarian meals and for preparing the freshest salad," said Kali Hristodoulopoulou, association president. "We have mostly vegetables now, but, of course, in season we'll have a large variety of fruits, too."

The Gouves organic farmers market, which has been set up with the help of the Township, has about 10 vendors at the present time, but more are expected to participate in upcoming season.

"This is really a wonderful idea," said one shopper as she selected her choice of the day's produce. "These are the reddest and plumpest tomatoes I've ever seen."
