CHOCOLATE CAKE WITH GINGER

Fresh ginger root  keeps for several weeks, or dry in a powder. Its flavour is slightly hot with a fruity and lemony after taste. It is used in preparing many foods, cocktails and sauces. In neighboring Turkey it's used for flavouring salepi. Moreover, the Chinese have used it for more than 2000 years as a digestive aid.


Ingredients

500gr. margarine
500gr. powder sugar
7 fresh eggs
125 gr. milk
1 tbspn baking powder
600 gr. all purpose flour
100 gr. walnuts
1 tsp ginger
100 gr. good quality cocoa

Preparation

Beat margarine together with sugar. Add the milk slowly together with eggs. As soon as they are mixed, add the sieved flour, baking powder, ginger, and cocoa and mix with a ladle or by hand. Finally, add the lightly crushed walnuts and only half-fill baking pans.

Bake for about 25 minutes in 160-180 Co.
