ALIKARNASSOS NEWS

SEWERAGE SOLUTIONS

Mayor Vaggelis Sisamakis and officials from the Union of Municipal Enterprises of Water Supply and Sewerage, headed by its president Manoli Pagomeno, visited the Alikarnassos settlement Agios Nektarios to discuss problems stemming from the lack of a sewerage network.

After meeting with residents and local officials, the mayor noted that "it's an important issue which involves public health and the pollution of the environment. We in the local government will undertake the necessary actions and will find the solutions."

YOUNG ARTIST BRINGS HOME AWARD

Six year-old Ioannis Peiniris of N. Alikarnassos received an honorary distinction for his participation in the Greek Popular Culture Exhibit in Athens. His art was displayed at the Alikarnassos Kiosk, and he was the youngest participating artist at the exhibit.

The talented youngster has been interested in mosaics since the age of four, sees artistic creation as a game. In addition to mosaics, little Ioannis likes painting, and has his own tools for cutting the rocks needed for his mosaics.

A ROSE FOR MOTHER

Mother's day was celebrated with a flourish at the Alikarnassos KAPI.
The president of the association, Panayiotis Mourtzakis, presented each of the female members with a rose.

"Mother's day is only one reason to honour the role of the mother, one of the more important individuals
in a family and thank them for their love and daily care," he said.
"It's the mother who gives life and is responsible for the upbringing and shaping of character for all of tomorrow's citizens."

Mayor Vangelis Sisamakis attended the celebration as well as the board of governors of KAPI, and many members.
