BATTLE FOR TERRA (2009)

This sci-fi film is animated, but it is clearly aimed at adults. Terra is an alien planet which has different "air," different animals, a strange terrain and people with no legs, who move with a dolphin-kick motion. The Terra population is attacked by the remnants of the human race, who have killed their own earth and are now searching for oxygen to maintain what's left of the human race. The film can be very moving at times, and the action, which builds slowly, gets more intense with each scene . . . and the final aerial battle is fantastic. Battle For Terra is not a toy story, but a beautiful and powerful film with a message for all. It features the voices of Justin Long, Brian Cox, Evan Rachel Wood, Luke Wilson, James Garner, Dennis Quaid, Chris Evans and Danny Glover. Another feature worthy of "star" billing is the absolutely outstanding music by Abel Korzeniowski.
