Every year four men fast approaching 40 who feel they will never meet the woman of their dreams, go to a different holiday destination on a 'campaign' to pull as many women as possible all with varying degrees of success. This is more of a lad lit book but one which the ladies will enjoy. The four contrasting friends go to Hersonissos and their different characters emerge from the cool and good-looking shy office boy, the salesman, the estate agent through to credit controller Phil who is a chubby clown who relies on his lucky pulling shirt. The book gives good descriptions of Crete, the landscape and the culture and various characters are introduced such as Theo the barman who takes you back with all his love of rock music from the seventies and eighties, and Albert the strange and mysterious ex pat. The female content is well introduced and varied from posh Elsie to the beer swilling girls in the bars. The book is simply written, easy to read and gets you involved with the characters also making you feel that you are in Crete with them on holiday. It has a feel good ending without giving anything away and is a great holiday book to read on the beach or if not on the beach it will make you feel the sunshine and the sea.
