From heart-stopping narrow roads, through mountains that never stopped
climbing, to vast sweeps of valleys, the KAPI from Hersonissos, with members
also from Pano Hersonissos, Avdou, Analipsi, Potamies and surrounding areas,
enjoyed an exciting excursion to the Peloponnese.
After travelling from Iraklion
to Athens,
the group of nearly 50 visited the immense
Epidavros Theatre, which is now a social and historic site. Later, they went
to the castle at Palamidi.
The ever changing scenery included Sparti and then Nafplio, and the castle
at Mystras, then a journey to Kalamata. The magnificent
Vlychada
Cave at Diros was a
challenge, but again worth the efforts, which many experienced with an
underground boat.
Mountainous vista unfolded as the coach's driver overcame radical twists and
hairpin turns on the narrow roads.
Among other sites visited were the ancient monastery of Agia Megaspilion, the
stunning memorial at Kalavryta, the historic site of
Olympia
and even wine tasting at Achaia Clauss, wine producers since 1861.
