Inglourious Basterds

Directed by Quentin Tarantino, at his absolute best, this film is based in Nazi-occupied France during World War II. A group of Jewish-American soldiers, known as "The Basterds," is chosen to spread fear throughout the Third Reich by scalping and brutally killing Nazis. They soon cross paths with a French-Jewish teenage girl who runs a movie theatre in Paris which is targeted by the soldiers. Inglourious Basterds makes no apologies, asks no forgiveness and Tarantino doesn't care if he offends. The pace he sets never lets up and the two and a half hours fly by. With all the brutality, which is very graphic with no punches held back, there is still time for plenty of laughs. Even though the headliners of this film include Brad Pitt, Melanie Laurent and Eli Roth, the star for me is Christoph Waltz (pictured here) whose performance as Col. Hans Lada, is immaculate. You can look for his name at the Oscars.
