"The continuing delay in the construction of the marina in Malia is causing intense indignation and anger among local government and citizens alike," an irate Manolis Stratakis, an Iraklion MP, declared.

Mr. Stratakis' statements appeared in his inquiry to the ministries of Tourism Development and Aegean Merchant Marine. 

"Of course," he continued, "the local government has created land infrastructures on its own, but gradually these are also deteriorating."

The MP said that as long as the Malia marina remains unexploited, the municipality loses income. He emphasized that the marina is sorely needed to give an economic boost to the region, especially in a crisis period.

"What does the state intend to do to insure that the construction of the marina finally finishes?" he asked in his inquiry.
