“This Is It”: Michael Jackson's last concert in cinemas:

From October 30 the whole world can have front row seats and enjoy Michael's last concert. Sony Pictures Entertainment and Sony Music Entertainment, in announcing the movie's release, explained that the film includes scenes from backstage and the legendary star's last rehearsals. The production, which has the complete support of the Michael Jackson Institute, is based on hundreds of rehearsal hours and behind-the-scenes material in high definition and digital sound, as the king of pop was preparing for a series of concerts in London this year. The film, which will include certain snapshots in 3-D, will be a unique retrospective into the artistic direction of the pop star as well as including interviews with some of his closer friends and co-workers. The proceeds from the movie will go into the Michael Jackson Family Trust.

Nominations for this year's Mercury award:

Florence And The Machine and Kasabian are in the front line claiming the Mercury award which is granted every year to a British group. The two groups seem to be most likely to win the award, although the nominees include Bat For Lashes for Two Suns, Friendly Fires Glasvegas, The Invisible and La Roux for the debut of their tunes of the same name, Led Bib for Sensible Shoes, Lisa Hannigan for Sea Sew, Speech Debelle for Speech Therapy, Sweet Billy Pilgrim for Twice Born Men and The Horrors for Primary Colours. The final winner will be picked through voting that will take place on September 8 in London, among music producers in the industry. The list of Mercury award winners includes Suede, Dizzee Rascal, Arctic Monkeys, Klaxons, Elbow and others.

Wait For Me:

Particularly positive are the comments about Moby's new disk and rightly so, as he at last put aside any effort to make another club hit (a talent he has lost for some time now) and decided to turn towards introspection. Wait For Me is full of ambient sound icons, revealing a side of Moby that we don't often see. Moby's turn to some less commercial and simultaneously more qualitative things, is something that delights us all.

The High End Of Low:

Ambiguous are the sentiments that are created by Marilyn Manson's new disk, (though the fear that he has "lost it" is strong and realistic). It doesn't matter that he has guitarist Twiggy Ramirez by his side; together they built the Marilyn Manson legend. With the disappointing previous album still hanging over his head, Manson fails to create any intense emotion, precisely because he repeats himself over and over and is in danger of becoming too graphic. Even if you are a die-hard fan you will not be satisfied.
