Going back to school is not necessarily a return to routine or a goodbye to enjoyment and fun, which was the reality when times and needs were different.

It is really the adults' attitude, fearing of being inadequate in their parental role that promotes this idea, not the kids’.

But how can we, as adults, overcome our fears, when at the same time we are so vulnerable towards our kids?

We must understand that school is not only an education centre, but it's also a field for personal growth. This is a place where kids of different backgrounds, skills, cultures and nationalities meet and interact in order to learn, both academically and socially.

Of course, all of the above data is completely foreign to kids, but what is really important for them is to enjoy learning and playing for their personal development.

The learning process is accomplished in many different ways and it is very important for the parents, as well as the teachers, to focus on the empowerment of the kids and not only offer formal knowledge.

Every child needs the encouragement, the inspiration and the authority to go ahead and acquire the knowledge which will provide the tools he or she will use in life.

Last but not least, school is a learning field which will always exist and remain open and welcoming, throughout life, in various forms, offering all kinds of knowledge needed to realize goals and fulfill needs.

It is indeed a blessing for everyone to know that the school gates are open, awaiting and inviting us to set sails to new journeys.
