The Lost Symbol

By Dan Brown

Published by Doubleday Books
Hardcover, 528 pages
ISBN-10: 0385504225

This third Robert Langdon thriller is a must for all Dan Brown fans. If you have read The Da Vinci Code and the even better Angels and Demons (like who hasn't) you will be impatient for this new adventure. It delves into the secrets of the Freemasons. Langdon is called to Washington to meet a friend and mentor, Peter Solomon, who is a prominent Mason only to find that he has been kidnapped, and his only hope of saving his friend is to follow an ancient invitation which is encoded with five symbols, and the adventure starts from there. There is the usual race against time which features strongly in all of the author's books, and the many secrets involved, such as the hidden tunnels under Washington. It goes at a great pace and even though the plot is very familiar to Brown fans it is a book which will keep you enthralled from beginning to end.
