     District 9

Twenty years ago an alien spaceship came to a halt above the city of Johannesburg in South Africa. Humans eventually break into the ship and discover a large group of sick and malnourished aliens whom they house in a government camp which eventually turns into a slum known as District 9. Eventually the government wants these aliens, referred to as prawns because of their appearance, evicted but . . . well, I don't want to spoil it for you, but this is not your typical alien movie. It's an original script and Sharlto Copley, in his debut performance, is excellent. Director Neil Blomkamp does a great job with the film's realism, however there is much violence, so it is not for everyone.  However, it is one of the best alien movies for many years.
