A LIGHT AT THE END OF
KOKKINI SCHOOL TUNNEL?

A long-awaited meeting regarding the fate of a new Kokkini Hani grammar school, recently held at the governor's office in Iraklion, was attended by Fofo Tziraki, president and Kostas Karakatsanis, vice president, of the school's Parents and Guardians Association; Iraklion Prefect Vangelio Schinaraki, and from the Gouves Township, Mayor Yiorgos Nikolakakis and Vice Mayor Evangelos Hatzakis.

Mrs. Schinaraki, fully realizing how long this project has dragged on, proposed a wait-and-see position, but only until the end of November, in case a contractor can be found with the support of the School Buildings Association. At the same time, Mrs. Schinaraki said she will promote the project, give it its due priority from the prefecture, and adding: "the prefecture will undertake its completion if a suitable contractor cannot be found."

During the meeting, it was decided that the school will be temporarily re-housed in a suitable rented building, as well as the special itinerary by the bus lines to accommodate all the children.

"Our association sees these developments as very positive and appreciates the fact that Mrs. Schinaraki has taken this project under the auspice of the Iraklion prefecture, and we also appreciate the bus line's accommodation, said Mrs. Tziraki."The Parents and Guardians Association has made a tremendous effort on this front and will continue to fight until this school is finally a reality."
