BOOK REVIEW

The Time of My Life

By Patrick Swayze & Lisa Niemi

Published by Simon & Schuster Adult Publishing Group
Hardcover, 256 pages
ISBN-1439158584

Ladies will remember Patrick Swayze for Dirty Dancing and men will remember Roadhouse, but no Swayze fan will forget his sad passing from pancreatic cancer in September at age 57. Written, together with his wife, Lisa, just before his death, The Time of My Life is an entertaining and inspirational story about his life, both the good and the bad times. In his childhood he was bullied at school because he was a ballet dancer. So he took up football, but almost destroyed his knee, an injury which also destroyed his hopes of being an Olympic gymnast and a professional ballet dancer. Patrick met Lisa when she was just 15 and they married a few years later, a marriage in which they were soul mates, but was not without its hard times. Swayze's life was full of insecurities which led to depression and alcoholism, causing problems within his marriage, and the sadness they both shared when Lisa had a miscarriage. This book is also available in audio version and is narrated by the authors themselves which makes very poignant listening . . .  a must for every Patrick Swayze fan.
