What could very well be the biggest pizza ever made was the centrepiece of the recent 20^th birthday party for a Kato Gouves restaurant.

"We used 110 kilos of flour, a case of peppers, a case of tomatoes and about 65 kilos of cheese," said Nikos Grafanakis, owner of Memories Pizzeria and Restaurant, explaining the ingredients of his giant pizza which measured approximately five metres by four metres.

"We wanted something special to celebrate our 20 years as a restaurant, and to show our appreciation to our customers over the years."

Mr. Grafanakis said the preparation and cooking of the pizza started at 12 midnight and continued for the next 10 hours.  When it was ready, it was sliced and served free to the many people attending the party.

"My father and I began the restaurant 20 years ago, and since 1998 we've specialized as a pizzeria", said Mr. Grafanakis.  “Because of the holidays we wanted to create a different and at the same time original atmosphere for all the people."
