Green Zone

Director Paul Greengrass, director of The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum, joins up again with Matt Damon for a thriller set in war-torn Iraq. Chief Warrant Officer Roy Miller (Damon, in another impressive role) leads a search for Weapons of Mass Destruction said to be stockpiled in the Iraqi desert, only to come up empty every time and Miller wants to know why. Amid a web of intrigue he discovers a conspiracy involving the CIA and the U.S. Special Troop Forces. Green Zone portrays a sense of reality amid the action, probably helped by Greengrass casting real soldiers in some of the supporting roles. The film, co-starring Amy Ryan as a New York Times foreign correspondent and Greg Kinnear as the man from the Pentagon, is based on the 2006 book Imperial Life in the Emerald City by journalist Rajiv Chandrasekaran. Green Zone, with cinematography by Barry Ackroyd of The Hurt Locker fame, is a good action movie with numerous twists and turns in the plot, brilliantly coordinated by Greengrass.
