ON THE NET

Since 1989, internet began to globalize so that increasingly more countries are being connected with World Wide Web (www.name.net).

Today, internet is a major information source, a window, where users can store or withdraw knowledge. Unfortunately, this window is also open to undesirable invasions. Picture this: The internet-connected computer is functioning as usual, and suddenly functions, including the mouse stop, responding on an increasingly frequent rhythm, even though the modem light indicates continuous activity. If your computer displays one or more of the above symptoms then you probably have been invaded by malware. If you display all the symptoms you can be sure you've been tagged.

First, confirm the presence of spyware in your computer. Press Alt+Ctrl+Del, to see the Task Manager. On the "Processes" card you can see anything running that particular moment in your computer. Whatever work you don't know, type its name on any search engine for relative information. Do the same for any services executed in your PC. To see which ones are active go to Start>Run and type services.mcs.

Keyloggers is software that discreetly collects any information you store in your computer, and, spyware in general, and is mainly used for theft of personal information. But, we also have the adware category. Even though it is not as dangerous as it is annoying, in extreme cases it hides ransomware. This is software that codes your computer data and very possibly will prevent you from accessing your own data.

Fight back

The best solution is the purchase of an antibiotic programme with protection capabilities against spyware. Several free commercial suites provide very good alternatives. For example, you can combine the Comodo firewall, the free antivirus application of AVG or AVIRA as well as the antispyware application of Spyware Blaster to create a powerful defence.

Get rid of it

An excellent way to get rid of malware and check-up your computer in detail is through the free edition of the Malicious Software Removal Tool from Microsoft. Download it from the address http://tinyurl.com/5lyxe.

While the internet is a precious tool, it can also be our worst nightmare. Despite years of practice in using it, and collective experiences from millions of users, Windows remain enigmatic while they are also accompanied by certain errors. In each new edition, a series of new characteristics, traits and subjects are observed which are puzzling and create problems.

Sometimes the new technical characteristics and the improved operations from Vista cause problems. Also, XP (more so some earlier editions) don't provide functions which are essential in improving users' effectiveness.

Fortunately, it is not necessary to spend hours trying to figure a way to overcome these difficulties, since we have collected all essential measures which will make your PC…fly.
