HONOURS THE KHRONICLES

The Cretan Animal Welfare Group (CAWG) has awarded The Khronicles newspaper with its prestigious Certificate of Appreciation for its “continued assistance in improving the welfare for animals on Crete and beyond.”

Gaynor Vlastou, CAWG founder said: “Today in Greece there is a big change in attitudes towards animals…This has been brought about by the continued work of various animal welfare organizations, but without the media coverage it could not happen on such a large scale.”

Mrs. Vlastou said that The Khronicles, through its articles and columns, continuously “focuses attention on relevant issues, reports current events and shows the important work being done to help animals.”

In accepting the award on behalf of The Khronicles at recent ceremonies, Mrs. Sofia Klidi, publisher, said: “With some worthwhile programmes, the Cretan Animal Welfare Group contributes to the reduction of the stray animal population and provides much needed animal information and awareness to our readers. As a community newspaper, The Khronicles is dedicated to showcase such appreciable efforts and social messages.”

Also attending the presentation ceremonies were Kerenza Vlastou, CAWG Coordinator, Margaret Clurow, of Wildlife Rescue, and Lou Duro, the newspaper’s editor.
