Romanos
(Elia) 4 v Paliani 2008 (Venerato) 0
Paliani
kicked off but Romanos won the ball and a shot by Spanakis was deflected by
Tirakis, with the rebound falling to Mezothiakakis, who shot from 25 metres
and scored the first goal after one minute. Romanos now were playing some
excellent football and after 17 minutes a good move ended with Markou
scoring to make it 2-0. A foul after 22 minutes by Romanos’ Tzortzis led to
a free kick on the edge of the penalty area, which was taken by Kotoros, but
the shot went well over the cross bar. Then Romanos made constant attacks on
the Paliani goal with Mezothiakakis, Spanakis and Housenai all going close
to goal. The second half began with a bright start for Romanos with shots
again from Mezothiakakis and Housenai going just wide. After 55 minutes
Romanos again had the ball in the net but this time it was ruled off side.
Markou had a shot from 30 metres which was just wide and seconds later,
Markou again made a good run at goal but his shot was well saved by the
keeper. Romanos were now attacking the goal at will; Mezothiakakis had two
shots both going wide; Markou, with only the keeper to beat, shot tamely
straight at him but then Spanakis had a good run and crossed the ball to
Markou who made no mistake this time for his 35th goal of the
season, to make the score 3-0 after 65 minutes. Spanakis again crossed a
great ball to Markou who at 25 metres out made no mistake and scored his hat
trick to make the score 4-0 after 70 minutes. Romanos then played out the
final few minutes to end still on top of the A2 EPSI league with 75 points.
The
Khronicles
“Man of
the Match” was Romanos’ Bourthamis for his command of the goal area and a
brilliant penalty save.
Romanos
(Elia) 2 v Asimi (Mesara) 4
This was
a game two halves. Already having won promotion with two games left to play,
Romanos took on Asimi and were straight on to the attack with a good run by
Sindihakis, who passed to Protoyerakis, who shot just wide. Romanos’
Yeorgalis beat the off side trap, but the Asimi keeper, Vasilakis, managed
to push the ball out for a corner. This was followed by a great shot by
Arapoglou but Vasilakis saved with his legs this time. In the 25th
minute Potoyerakis broke through the Asimi defence and scored the first goal
to make it 1-0. After 31 minutes, a shot by Yeorgalis from 22 metres made it
2-0. For the second half Asimi made a substitution by bringing on Dagiandas
and from the kick off a good move by Asimi’s Spyropoulos saw his shot well
saved by the Romanos keeper. A 30 metre shot by Asimi’s Kosmathakis hit the
net in the 47th minute to make it 2-1. Asimi were well back into
the game now with them doing all the attacking, which brought some bad
tackles, and which led to Romanos’ Protoyerakis being sent off. From a
corner, Asimi’s Tsantarmas scored to level the game at 2-2. Romanos were in
total disarray now, and one minute later Kosmathakis lobbed the goal keeper
to score, making it 2-3, and then had a great chance to seal the game but
shot over the net from a very good position. The game was held up for five
minutes while the referee sorted out an offside decision and from the
restart Kosmathakis scored his third goal for a hat trick, making the final
score 2-4. The Khronicles “Man of
the Match” was Asimi’s Kosmathakis for his second half hat trick.
This was
the last match of the season with Romanos already champions. A slow start
with neither teams having a decent shot at goal, then a good move by Gouves
ended with Alla E. shooting wide of goal. After 19 minutes a free kick to
Gouves was easily taken by Romanos goalkeeper, Bourthamis. Romanos’ Markou
started a good move, and finished with the ball in the back of the net to
make the score 0-1. After 25 minutes a Gouves player was sent off
unnecessarily as a yellow card would have been enough. After 39 minutes
Romanos’ Markou again made some space and scored a great goal to make the
score 0-2. In the second half Romanos’ Markou had another shot in the 50th
minute, but this was wide of goal. Both teams were finding it hard to break
down the opposition’s defence and Gouves, with only ten men, were equal to
Romanos’ eleven. A mistake by Bourthamis almost let in Gouves but he
redeemed himself by saving the rebound. All in all, not a great game spoiled
by the early dismissal of the Gouves player.
The
Khronicles
‘Man of
the Match’ was Romanos’ Klonaris who kept his defence well organised
throughout the game.
Note:
Romanos
are now promoted to the A1 EPSI league, Thiagoras (Anopoli) stay in the A2
EPSI league and Gouves are relegated to the B EPSI league. Markou from the
Romanos (Elia) team was the leading goal scorer in the A2 Epsi league with a
grand total of 39 goals, well ahead of any other attackers.
